We are partnered with a global organization seeking a Senior Director of Safety and Security to join their team. This newly created role is a high-impact position that will shape and lead the company’s safety and security frameworks across multiple levels, including executive security, corporate office safety, and multi-site retail security. The ideal candidate is a former government professional with recent corporate security experience, complemented by a strong background in safety.
Position Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Work closely with the Executive team to design and implement a comprehensive Safety and Security strategy that aligns with corporate goals. Develop and execute a security roadmap encompassing executive protection for multiple principals, corporate security for professional sites, and retail security for multi-site sales locations.
- Corporate and Multi-Site Security: Oversee the creation and maintenance of security protocols for corporate offices, retail locations, and other organizational assets. Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure a robust and effective security strategy. Develop and enforce access control measures, conduct annual security training, and lead emergency response planning and drills.
- Executive Security: Provide executive protection strategies for principals, including risk assessments, travel security, and personal protection plans.
- Environmental Health and Safety (EHS): Lead the development of corporate EHS policies and objectives, working in partnership with business unit EHS teams and HR staff. Drive initiatives to reduce employee injuries, mitigate workers' compensation costs, and promote safety culture throughout the organization.
- Crisis Management and Business Continuity: Integrate safety and security measures with Crisis Management and Business Continuity Plans to minimize organizational impact during incidents. Lead communication and response efforts during emergencies.
- Data-Driven Insights: Establish metrics to track safety and security performance. Analyze incident data, inspection results, and loss trends to identify improvement opportunities. Produce regular reports detailing activity, performance analysis, and strategic priorities.
- Incident Investigation and Continuous Improvement: Create and manage a robust incident investigation framework that emphasizes action closure and lessons learned. Increase reporting and understanding of near-miss incidents to enhance preventive measures.
- Training and Awareness: Develop and implement safety and security training programs for employees at all levels. Promote EHS and security awareness through regular communications and department meetings.
- Compliance and Standards: Ensure organizational compliance with safety and security regulations, including ISO 45001 standards. Lead annual reviews of safety manuals and policies, recommending and implementing improvements where necessary.
- Operational Oversight: Provide strategic direction, operational management, and financial budgetary control for the Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) team. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across all business units.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders to promote understanding and adoption of safety and security measures. Collaborate across departments to align goals and ensure consistent implementation of policies.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a senior-level corporate security and safety role.
- Strong background in developing and executing security strategies, including executive and multi-site security.
- Expertise in EHS and familiarity with ISO 45001 standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive cultural change within an organization.
- Exceptional communication and analytical skills, with a track record of leveraging data to influence decision-making.
